Chrome extension errors, explained

Each page covers one error message, copied from DevTools. The causes are reproduced in a real browser where possible, and the fixes come from shipping ResistGate, an open-source Manifest V3 extension.

Service worker

  • Could not establish connection. Receiving end does not exist.

    Chrome sent your message, and no listener was registered at the other end at that moment. The sender is fine; the receiver is missing, asleep without a listener, or a different extension than you think.
